What does merging PDFs mean?
Merging PDFs means combining the pages of two or more separate PDF files into a single PDF document. The result is one file that contains all the pages from the source files, in the order you choose. This is different from compressing or converting โ no content is changed, just assembled.
This tool uses pdf-lib, a JavaScript library, to copy pages directly from each source PDF and write them into a new combined document. Because pages are copied at the byte level without re-encoding, there is no quality loss โ text stays sharp, images stay crisp, and the file structure is preserved exactly as it was in the originals.
How to merge PDF files โ step by step
- Click the upload area and select two or more PDF files, or drag them onto the page. You can also use the "Add more files" button to add further PDFs after the initial selection.
- Your PDFs appear as a sortable list showing filename, page count, and file size. Drag the handle (โ ฟ) to reorder the files โ pages will be combined in this order from top to bottom.
- Use the ร button to remove any file you no longer want to include.
- Optionally, enable "Add blank page between documents" to insert a separator page between each merged file.
- Click Merge PDFs. The combined document will be ready to download in seconds.

Tips for merging PDFs
- Set the order before merging. The merge is final โ drag files into the correct order in the list before clicking Merge. You can re-run the merge if you make a mistake.
- Remove password protection first. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs cannot be merged. Remove passwords using your PDF viewer before uploading.
- Check page counts. The file list shows the page count for each uploaded PDF. Verify that the counts match what you expect before merging.
- Use the blank page separator for printing. When merging documents that will be printed double-sided, the blank page separator ensures each document starts on a right-hand (odd-numbered) page.
